Been feeling restless with sleep lately. Maybe it's just all that's going on, lately. Maybe I need to go off and burn off steam.

I have a rather interesting case for you. Two possibly, but I think the one is more interesting than the other to you.

Boys A and B. Boy A I think is more a psychological case that lies on my end.

But Boy B...

... Well, the fact that he has a hole in his chest is already cause for concern...

But what is that supposed to be, inside of him?

The interesting fact is the hole doesn't seem infected, close as i can tell.

And from what I'm able to gather, it's Analogous to the Artifact core.

Basically a machine designed to run on memory.

Artifact... You mean like the archetype, correct?

Do you know why he has that inside of him?

Yes. That one. Group of Fairy-Types (though their lore makes them more Machine-Types...)

And no. That's somewhat of a mystery.

Hm... Under normal circumstances, the boy would likely be dead now.

Is the core in the place of his heart, or is there still a heart there? I would have to see the boy in person to really get a better idea of this situation, but I would assume that the core is possibly akin to a life support system.

If he's still alive and well despite the grievous injury, then it's a very efficient life support system.

The Heart and Core seem to be tied together, feeding into each other.

Main question is why did nothing detect the core.

Perhaps it's not able to be detected by normal human monitoring equipment...?

Or maybe he's never received x-rays that would have detected it. Either one is a possibility. You'd have to know his medical history too, to find any faults there.

Be going through that if I can, when I have more of a chance.

Though I'm willing to bet "not able to be detected" is in play.

Or it registered as noise.

So what exactly would you like me to do? I mean, the hole is a rather obvious issue, but other than outright surgery...

I mostly was more pointing the case out to you as a medical oddity than anything. I'll ask him if he wishes to seek treatment after he recovers.

It is an interesting case, but like I said, I'd need to see the boy specifically in order to really get an idea of what's happening. As well as be familiar with his medical history.

Yes. He did, when he and his brother were both much younger.

And what about the brother, too? ... Or is he the "Boy A" you mentioned?

The Brother is Boy A.

Besides these two incidences, they've lived fairly unremarkable lives. Boy B seems to have suffered higher levels of stress than Boy A, due to his guardians, but nothing boarding school with a good counselor wasn't helping.

Then it's very likely that the life-threatening incident before is related to why "Boy B" has a Core inside of him.

Have you been able to tell if his brother has the same thing?

No, but they both show the same exact symptoms.

So we can probably assume that they have a similar life support system in place. But Boy A's isn't exposed.

Why exactly is Boy B's "Core" exposed?

... That was very dumb of him, it sounds like.

To be fair, he apparently had lost all energy and bodily function to sustain himself. But yes, it's pretty imbecilic.
