Continuing our studies in what causes certain behaviors, for extra credit, I would like to hear what people think causes Criminal and Deviant behavior. Is it genetic? Is it behavior driven?
For an extra bonus question, what do you believe causes the behavior of Serial Killers?
Anyone who uses Wikipedia gets drop kicked.

But I also think that some criminal behavior is caused by chemical responses, not just in the brain, but from the environment as well. David Garabedian for example, was a quiet non-violent man before he murdered someone virtually out of nowhere. neurologists claimed that the chemicals he had been mixing prior damaged his brain's ability to break down the chemical that causes anger, so he was left with extreme anger he had never felt or knew had to deal with before, and snapped. But this isn't to say there's no free will, what caused him to kill, it's said, was that he DIDN'T KNOW how to deal with this new anger.
..Uh.. I'm sort of rambling, sorry.
But in summary, I think that we are predisposed towards certain behaviors genetically, but upbringing can drastically effect this as well. Our experiences shape us just as much as genetics do. There's a reason almost all child molesters were molested themselves. It damages them that much.

Yeah, behaviors 're gonna be playin' a part int' it. Someone who was abused is gonna be more prone t' violent behavior, f'instance, 'cause that's what they were conditioned t' react with. Actions result in actions, an' people are impressionable enough that they'll go ahead an' copy what's done t' them, even if they get that it's "wrong" by society's standards.
But then there's genetic sorts-- someone with a mental condition might end up havin' it be hereditary t' their kin. Hell-- even someone with just a more fatal hereditary illness might give way t' violent action on their kin's part, cause they might have just given up on life once basically given their death sentence. Humans're screwed up like that.
'course, I could just say that everyone's gonna be predisposed t' acts like that anyway, no matter how they might end up bein', but that might be a bit too cynical.
